Martel Construction was established in 1960 by Emil and son William Martel. The organization has been under Bill’s leadership ever since and has grown from a small father-son team to a 150+ person company with multi-million dollar properties under construction simultaneously in several western states. We are licensed in Montana, Idaho, Washington, and California.

Martel Construction’s annual sales volume ranges between $80 and $130 million dollars, with a bonding capacity of $40+ million single bond and $130+ million dollars aggregate. This high volume of business is managed out of our Bozeman, Montana and Bigfork, Montana offices.

The company’s primary focus consists of projects for commercial, industrial, and custom residential uses. Examples of commercial projects include, but are not limited to: schools, office buildings, retail stores and institutional facilities. Examples of industrial projects include, but are not limited to: heavy concrete and structural steel on mining projects in Montana, Idaho, and Nevada. Our custom residential projects, with price points reaching $25 million, are primarily in Montana.

Martel Construction was named the national winner of the 1990 Associated General Contractors of America National Build America Award. We were the only winner in our region and the first Montana contractor to ever win this prestigious award. The company was selected as Montana State University’s Family Business of the Year for 1999. In the same year, William Martel, President, won the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Entrepreneurial Success Award. In January of 2002, the Concrete Division of the Montana Contractor’s Association awarded Martel Construction First Place – New & Innovative Category for concrete work done on the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Helena, Montana. Most recently Martel Construction was awarded Leadership in Energy Efficiency and Design (LEED) Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for the Bozeman Public Library.

Martel Construction was awarded the Montana Contractor’s Association’s Best Custom Residence Award for 2006 for the Endless Sky Project in Bigfork, Montana. This project can be seen in our Residential Portfolio.
